In 2026, Link to Progress engaged Esonga Menstrual Care to develop information, education and communication (IEC) materials to equip menstrual hygiene blocks in schools in Otuke District, as part of Link to Progress’s WASH in Schools (WINS) work.

The package gives teachers, senior women and men teachers, peer educators and parents clear, accurate and age-appropriate content on puberty and menstruation. It includes:

  • Illustrated A2 posters, including My Body Is Changing – And That’s Okay, Period Pain – What Is Normal? and Period & School – Staying in Class
  • The She Stays in Class poster series
  • Flipbooks and wall charts for classroom sessions
  • A comic booklet for learners
  • A period diary to help girls track their cycle
  • A teacher facilitator guide
  • A parent letter pack
  • A peer educator toolkit

Placed in and around school menstrual hygiene blocks, the materials help girls understand what is happening to their bodies, manage their periods with confidence and stay in class. They draw on Esonga’s experience delivering MHM education in schools, communities and institutions across Uganda.
