With support from Anne and Kiri Weimann in Denmark, Esonga Menstrual Care is producing reusable pads for schoolgirls at Bethany Centre Primary School in Jjungo, Wakiso District.
The work is part of the JJUNGO reusable pads micro-production model, which places pad production inside the school community so that girls have a steady, affordable supply of quality reusable pads.
- School menstrual hygiene clubs bring learners, teachers and parents into the work.
- Production follows UNBS specifications for reusable sanitary towels.
- The model is designed to become self-sustaining and to be replicated in other schools.
The pads are produced under Esonga Reusable Pads, the part of the Esonga ecosystem that designs, produces and distributes affordable, high-quality reusable pads.
